What are the types of network topologies?

💻What is network topology?
-Refers to the network's layout or structure as it relates to data flow. This is the arrangement of the elements (links, nodes, and so on) of a communication network. It refers to the physical or logical arrangement of your network's nodes, devices, and connections. It shows how devices are connected and data is sent from one computer to another in a network.

💢Types of Network Topologies

☆ Star Topology
- It use a central device known as a hub, from which cables extend in all directions.

☆ Advantage of star topology
- Lack of disruptions to the network when connecting or removing devices.

☆ Disadvantage of Star topology
-If the hub fails, attached nodes will not be able to use the network resources.

🚌Linear Bus Topology
- Connects computers and other devices to a single lengthy connection referred to as a backbone.

🚌Advantages of Linear Bus Topology
1.  Cost effective.
2.  Less cables required.
3.  Easy installation, each cable needs to be connected with
      backbone cable.

🚌Disadvantage of Linear Bus Topology
- The disadvantage is that the entire network shuts down if there is a break in the backbone.

d

💍 Ring Topology
-Is a network topology in which nodes are linked to one another in a ring configuration to produce a single contiguous pathway.

💍 Advantage of Ring topology
-There's no need for a network server to manage workstation connectivity.

💍Disadvantages of Ring Topology

1.  Data traffic issues.
2.  If a node fails, then the entire link gets disrupted.

💮Mesh Topology
- Are network architectures in which every nodes on the network may autonomously route data flow

💮Advantages of Mesh Topology

1. The central device handles all data traffic and user requests.
2. No data traffic issues.
3. Secure.

💮Disadvantage of Mesh Topology
- If the connection to the central hub breaks down, then all communication is lost between that node and the network.

⛶ Hybrid Topology
- Is a network that com
bines two or more distinct topologies in such a way that the resulting network does not display one of the standard topologies' features.

⛶ Advantage Hybrid Topology
-We can choose the topology based on the requirement for example, scalability is our concern then we can use star topology instead of bus technology.

⛶ Disadvantage Hybrid Topology
1. Fault detection is difficult.
2. Installation is difficult.
3. Design is complex so maintenance is high thus expensive.
